Students and staff at the Faculty of Music are cordially invited to a book launch celebrating the release of Musical Vulnerability: Receptivity, Susceptibility, and Care in the Music Classroom by Dr Elizabeth MacGregor (Joanna Randall-MacIver Junior Research Fellow, Somerville College). Musical Vulnerability explores the powerful capacity for music-making both to heal and harm-to celebrate identity and benefit wellbeing, while also revealing shortcomings and causing divisions. Through conversations with teachers and pupils, it considers how musical vulnerabilities arise within school contexts and how more caring approaches could transform everyday experiences in the music classroom.

Guest Speaker: Professor Stephanie Pitts, University of Sheffield
