Our survey of cello music that leads up to the 30th anniversary of the JdP begins with this special programme of Baroque instrumental music, given by Robert Quinney and Florian Berner, whose recent CD of the Bach Solo Cello Suites has been compared to Casals and Tortelier.

Immediately after the concert Florian Berner, who is professor for cello and chamber music at the Music and Arts University in Vienna, will work with two Oxford student cellists, Ollie Simpson (St Hilda's) and Oscar Lawson in a student Masterclass

Rémy Ballot and OUO Solo Players - Bruckner: String Quintet, Mathilde Kralik: Nonet

Following their successful chamber ensemble programme of Mozart and Strauss last January, violinist and conductor Rémy Ballot is joined by a chamber ensemble drawn from members of OUO to give a concert that presents Bruckner’s resplendent String Quintet alongside the work of his student, Mathilde Kralik. Kralik’s Nonet is scored for the rare combination of clarinet, bassoon, two horns, string quartet and piano.
