Toby Anderson selected for Britten Sinfonia Magnum Opus scheme
Alumnus Toby Anderson (At Anne's, 2018) has been awarded a place as a resident composer with Britten Sinfonia through the organisation's Magnum Opus scheme. Toby and two other composers will write new works for chamber ensemble to be premiered on 17 April, 6pm at Milton Court Concert Hall, London. They will also be supported by the 2026 Magnum Opus Programme Directors, Freya Waley-Cohen and Gavin Higgins, and will work towards writing new chamber concertos to be premiered by Britten Sinfonia later this autumn.
Toby is a composer and cellist working across experimental instrumental and electronic music. His work explores queer poetics in sound, drawing on affect theory and transplanting subcultural musics into contemporary concert practice. His critical writings centre on the somatic and affective experience of listening to, performing, and composing music.
