Triquetra is the debut album by harpist, flautist, and vocalist Catriona Bourne (University College, 2011), which has been released today. Blending classical, folk, and jazz elements, the album explores themes of nature and mythology. Known for her passion for new and improvised music, Catriona has performed at notable venues such as Kings Place and the Royal Albert Hall. This album showcases her experimental folk-infused jazz compositions, drawing on influences ranging from Francis Poulenc to Alice Coltrane, and reflecting her Scottish heritage. It includes the tracks Coronach, inspired by J.J. Johnson's jazz standard Lament, and Sligachan Bridge, inspired by a visit to the Isle of Skye.

Alongside fellow musicians Francis Tulip (guitar), Joe Bainbridge (drum), and James Owston (double bass), Catriona will be giving an album launch show this evening at Toulouse Lautrec, London, and you can also catch the ensemble at The Jazz Sanctuary, Twickenham, on 7 November.

The project has been backed by Youth Music's NextGen Fund, made possible thanks to the principal partner the Players of People's Postcode Lottery and support from the Dr. Martens Foundation.
