Huishu’s DPhil thesis, supervised by Professor Jonathan Cross, employs an interdisciplinary approach to Stravinsky by incorporating theories and perspectives from disability studies. It explores two interconnected research questions: first, how Stravinsky’s music could be understood as intersecting with disability across historical, critical, and analytical contexts, and second, how a recognition of disability aesthetics in Stravinsky’s music might lead to a re-evaluation of his work.
